Thomas Long began blowing glass is 1986, while studying ceramics. What keeps him working with glass is the fluidity of the material and inherent element of danger. His work is an expression of that fluidity and spontaneity. The color patterning is eye-popping, taking full advantage of the translucency of glass and its ability to boost color with light, evoking the reflective qualities of water.

 

Long has run his hotshop studio in St Augustine, FL since 2002, where he creates blown glass installations for residential and corporate environments throughout the U.S.
